A Walk In The Park.

I go for a walk in the local park by the Tualatin River several times a week. It is beautiful, peaceful and usually, for 6 months of the year, I have it entirely to myself; I think this could be because of the rainy weather in the NW. It is such a cute park in a NW. rugged kind of way big fir trees, hillside slopes and bubbling river.

Well, the other day, just to the side of the pathway I saw the first daisy of the year, YAY! Of course it was raining that day, like so many others but I was able to get a shot of it half open :)

As I strolled along in my own little world I realised there are a few things I can't do at the park anymore without little people around (my words for children :) Well, I guess I could do them but then I would most probably be locked up for being a little crazy (poss!).

Sad really!

So here is the list of things I can't do by myself at the park and still pretend I am sane :)

1). Sit and make daisy chains. (Add a kid doesn't seem weird at all :) Middle aged woman by herself, poss. a little crazy.

2). Talk to the Ducks. (Ditto! :)

3). Watch kids at play. (Ditto! :)

4). Skip along and sing. (Still a little crazy!)

5). Swing around the trees. (Not from them :)

6). Play on the play equipment. (OK, if absolutely, nobody is around :)

7). Walk the bases on the baseball field.

8). Chase the squirrels. (Could pretend I am running :)

9). Shoot hoops on the Basketball court.

10). Play in the leaves.

11). Run and jump in the puddles.

12). No Laughing out loud.

13). Absolutely no smiling at kids let alone talk to them. (Too Stalkerish!)

14). Run in the Fountain.

15). Watch teenage boys playing B.B., don't even look in their direction (Add a young kid.......!)

Get my drift!

But as I was leaving the park I did have a quick word with one of the ducks :)

OK, what else changes when there are no little People in the home anymore??? Let me know your thoughts :)

Have a Wonderful Weekend,

I'm just off for a walk in the park, I might pick some daisies for later :)

Happy Painting/Creating! :) T.

I really miss my walks, I used to take them often. But, now it is seeming closer to not at all in this new location.

Hopefully I can start again soon :)

Hehe... I am still getting used to, and really enjoying the changes that happen when a little person comes into your life. A favorite is singing, all of the time. I have so much fun singing and making faces at Autumn.

There was a nature park I really loved when I was living there, not a regular park. It was right off TV highway in beaverton. It was good because the trails were fairly short loops (which was better and better the more pregnant I became) and it was like a nature sanctuary in the city. We got to see some excellen wildlife. We saw owls and hawks frequently, and a little animal that we have not identified yet (probably a shrew of some sort) but it was one of the cutest things ever.

I think you could get away with several of those activities! And sometimes if you are having fun with another grown up, it works too!

I just today posted photos of our christmas day football game in a park near my house in oregon. I hadn't realized how beautiful the trees were until I went back through them and did some editing. Isn't Oregon great!

I am totally jealous that you have something blooming! It is snowing as I write this. I love your list, hilarious, but true if you think about.. and I did. I guess I'll be good for quite a while since I as blessed to have my little guy still under my waist.

I say just put on a wickedly fantastic purple hat with a big red plume and do all the things you want from your list... it will keep all the other weirdos away ;)

With all this snow I miss having little ones to build a snowman, build a fort and have snow ball fights! Hubby doesn't want to play!

Oh T, I read the comments of your younger fans and I think wistfully back to the days when my home, like yours, was filled with children. We find our prince charming, marry and begin building our nest and raising our family but then, all too soon, our little chicks grow up and test out their own wings. Soon they fly off to seek their fortunes...just like all the great fairytale characters did. And our lovely nest is once again empty.

One question, well maybe two...when did we stop playing? And can only children play ? You know right now I'd love to get on a swing and as it rises and falls, pretend I'm flying, the way I did when I was a child...or slide down the slides, or spin on the merry-go-round until I'm dizzy. If ever I'm out your way, let's get together and play in the park, make daisy chains, let's make silly faces, tell stupid jokes and laugh so hard we cry. :)

Oh, man, I'm so coming to stay with you until winter is over. And I talk to ducks, other birds, squirrels, cats and whatever other creature crosses my path.

You guys rock :) Come and visit anytime :)

I do actually swing on the swings (sometimes) when I go to the park with my Hubby :) But I don't push the little people off them to have a turn (He! He!)

Guess I will never really grow up :)

Have a wonderful weekend, T. :)
