FRIDAY FLOWERS! :)

Last Sunday seems like such a long time ago! It was a Glorious Day (It has been raining, hailing, windy, thundering etc., ever since) and we actually got to sit outside and have lunch on the patio at one of our fav. restaurants Papa Haydn, if you are ever in Portland you have to go there they have THE BEST DESSERTS ever, big gooey yummy creations!

So, as the Rhoddies are blooming we went off to the
Crystal Springs Rhododendron Gardens which is part of the Portland Parks and Rec. we are so lucky that our local area has a vast amount of parks with diverse environments maintained by the City of Portland. YAY! :)

So, I am very excited to show you this week's Friday Flowers which are the beautiful Rhododendrons :)

The Bees are busy already :)

This is my absolute fav. :)

This is a close 2nd, I love the pink shimmering thru when the sunlight hits it :)

These guys were so busy, nonchalant, it cracked me up :)

From Time to Time I like to profile, new to me, Artists whose work I just Love :) And so, here is Sherri Pekks. I bumped into Sherri in the forums on Etsy a few weeks ago and was immediately struck by her amazing Artwork. I Love her quirky sense of humour and lovely insight. Her Artwork is colourful and bold, clever and passionate.

I sent Sherri some questions so we could get to know her a little but first here is Sherri's brief Bio :)

"My name is Sherri Pekks and I am a Mom, Wife, Woman and Friend all wrapped up in one body and mind. I try to find humor and honesty in everyday experiences. Painting is like a form of therapy to help me deal with this crazy world and Life In General".

This is what sherri replied to the interview questions I sent :)

"keeping up with the jones."

7). What do you most dislike?

When people flick cigarettes out their car window.

8). Tell us 4 things about yourself that would let us peek into your world or that you think define you.

I have commitment issues.

I am an overachiever.

My middle name is Star.

I don't enjoy decorating for the holidays.

9). What would be your dream life?

To not have money, or the lack of, control what I do for a living.

10). When you Die what would you like to come back as?

My Basset Hound, Bogart. He has the life.

That was awesome :)

Time for another Giveaway!

Here we are another Month another Giveaway! This Month I am giving away 2 more pieces of my Artwork! :)

Here is the start of a new series; "HOT LIPS" greeting cards. This is a fun series for those "Hot" people in your life or if you just want to raise someone's spirits, they're cute and will make everyone smile. :) The cards are prints of original artwork created by me in watercolour, the cards are then hand finished by me with a dab of colour and a light glossy coat. The cards measure approx. 6" x 4.5". The card stock is white and comes with a matching envelope. "PoppyPlace" is on the imagine for copyright protection it will not be on the cards. The cards are initialed and dated by me.

"Twilight Sand Storm" is a great piece of original art. Created in water based inks on watercolour paper it evokes the image of a "Twilight Sand Storm" over distant sand dunes with the setting sun fading over them. There is depth, texture and movement created with the placement of the inks in an abstract form but there is still the possibility of reality. Even as a serious artist creating artwork is play time for me and I hope the joy I experience creating art comes across in my work. "Twilight Sand Storm" comes in a pale grey textural matt measuring 5" X 7" and is Ready to Frame. "Twilight Sand Storm" is an original work of art, it is signed on the front and back, this piece has not been copied or reproduced in any way for re-sale.
I am loving these giveaways because I get to interact with some really awesome people and making connections is so much fun. :)

So, all you have to do is check out my Etsy Shops and please heart me! :)

Third Giveaway from Poppy Place Pdx.

Here we are another month another Giveaway!

I am loving these giveaways because I get to interact with some really awesome people and making connections is so much fun.

This Month I have decided to go back to giving away artwork, but 2 pieces this time!!!

First up is this bright and colourful card. It is original artwork in different colours and types of inks mounted on a card. This card measures 6.5" x 4.5" approx. and comes with a matching white envelope.

Then we have a fun piece, this was an experiment for me to start producing smaller pieces, as my artwork is getting rather large (4' x 6' canvases) over the past few years and hard to get into the car to carry around, let alone trying to hang in art shows. So, I feel really good about this piece. It is a fun technique using inks and mylar. Inks, like watercolours are sometimes very difficult to control so trying to do an art piece that needs to stay "within the lines" can prove challenging, so always happy to get the result I was working towards.

A little about this piece;

"Bright Strips" is a great piece of original art work, a one of a kind piece, it is signed on the back.

Created in bright shades of Fuchsia Pink, Purple and Reds; In Winsor and Newton water based inks on watercolour paper.(Colours are more vivid on Artwork)

There is a unique sheen and a playful intrigue in this piece creating an abstract form.

"Bright Strips" measures 11 x 11 and is Ready to Frame.

The great thing about this piece is that it can be hung which ever way you choose, it will look great anyway you decide.

(I get rather frustrated with photographs, even using a professional, because they rarely capture the vivid colours my artwork comes in, so believe me on this, the colours are way more vibrant than the photo indicates!)

So, all you have to do is check out my Etsy Shops and please heart me! :)

Follow my blog and then post comments back here on my blog until the 31st of August; I will enter every name from the comments and have a drawing on the 31st.

Have fun!
