Instax Mini 8 Fuji Film images :)

Hi All :)

I Hope your week is going well :)

Remember back when I was raving about this little Pink Camera

(If you don't remember, you can read about it on my blog HERE :)

Well, I did actually buy it at Xmas time but didn't get around to taking any photos with it until March.

The first image I took was from the plane leaving San Diego but with the flash going off automatically and thru 2 panes of glass this is what I got.

So not bad but I wish I had taken photos with my DSLR camera 'cuz that Sunset was absolutely amazing; I don't know whether you have ever tried to get anything out of a closed bag on the floor under the seat in front of you on an airplane on take off with your seatbelt on and the G. forces at work but it is pretty close to impossible but I tried anyway, I just couldn't pull it free :(
The woman next to me must have thought she was sitting next to crazy, oh well, lol :)

So, here is the first batch of photos I scanned :)
*Note to self - make sure you dust the scanner before you scan photos, oops!!! lol :)

These pesky glossy photos were hard to keep from moving around on the glass surface of the scanner, so rotating and cropping was necessary.

You can see from the images that my first attempts were not too brilliant. The camera is very simple with 4 settings and an automatic flash (but I think it has a mind of its own where the settings are concerned, lol :)

Here are a few of my garden I wanted to share with you :)

I liked the composition on this shot, it was an overcast day, so it needed a little tweak on contrast and brightness to create the image below :)

This image was me trying to get a close up, lol :) (there is no zoom lens on this camera and I am so used to one on my DSLR) I have no clue what that green splodgy thing is on the image but it makes the photo look worn and old. I cropped the image to the focal point but the resolution was not great :(

I found, that day, most of the images I took were out of focus but I like this image anyway :)

Again I like the composition of this photo but it also need tweaking a little to create the image below :)

This image made me laugh because it is so washed out it looks totally vintage, so in a way I love it (if you can't tell it is at the beach, lol :)

Then I took this one; after I had gotten rid of all the dust spots from the scanner, I played around with cropping and some colour tweaks and came up with these 3 images below; I love the vintage feel and the washed out look of them all :)

As you can see using a different camera and a different film format, than what you are used to, takes time, I am still learning and developing (Ha! Ha! Photo joke :) my skills using this lovely little pink camera, I'm up for the challenge 'cuz it is fun :)

Sometimes not getting that perfect shot you expect makes you more determined to understand the process more :)

I also mentioned (in the previous blog post) that I had found a film to use with my Son's old Polaroid camera but we were messing around with it at Xmas and taking photos inside in dim light and they didn't turn out so great, so I will be buying a new film again soon and we will see if in day light the camera will perform a little better :)

Hope you enjoyed my little experimenting :)

As always, let me know what you think :)

Have a wonderful Weekend :)

Happy Painting/Creating! :) T.

I just love the vintage feel of the photos. Even the tweaked ones still look vingagey and I love that!
You are such a good photographer that even the ones that didn't really turn out, look good! How do you do that?!?!?
I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more as you develop your skills, lol!! :)

Hi A. :)

Thank you so much for your kind words, your making me blush :)

I'm so glad you like them. :)

Sometimes it is hard to put the "not so great" images out there but I feel it is a learning curve worth share :)

Thanks for the vote of confidence :)

Hope you have a wonderful weekend, cheers, T. :)

It makes lovely photo's! It does have that vintage feel to it indeed. I think any new camera needs to be worked with a lot at first, because they all work a bit differently, but these pictures look like a very promising start!

T the little pink camera is adorable and so perfect for a truly lovely lady such as you.

All the photos are marvelous and I especially enjoyed seeing how the over-exposed pictures came out looking like softly faded vintage photos. Sometimes things like that are blessings in disguise.

Of all the photos, I must admit that my favorite is the very first one of your garden. It looks so romantic and reminds me of a scene straight out of a Jane Austin Novel.
Hoping that your weekend is a relaxing and happy one. Adieu dear friend. :)

Well I'm no professional photographer, but I thought the photos came out great. It's amazing what a different makes in the original and the tweaking that you did. Oh, and your garden is just lovely. :)

Hi V. :)

You are so right, different cameras need time to adjust to. I have been taking photos for the past 4 years with my Nikon DSLR and it feels like an extension of me, so I guess I was a little impatient with this new camera. Oh we learn :)

Thanks for stopping by, always good to read your comments, cheers T. :)

Hi Anna :)

Thanks so much for your lovely words. I truly am flattered :)

I'm so happy you like the images :)

And you know my garden would look like an English Garden 'cuz it makes me feel like I'm back in England. The roses are out now and the lavender looks and smells beautiful, it is truly blissful to sit outside in the evening and smell the jasmine :)

Hope you too have an awesome weekend, my friend and thanks again, cheers, T.:)

I love these! It seems so different to experiment with film - you won't know what you have until you develop the film, and you have to be more thoughtful and patient, but the results are so fun!

I came into an old Lubitel a few years ago. I shot one roll of film out at the Alvord Desert, then promptly brought the camera home, put it back in it's box, and never had the film developed. It's STILL sitting in the camera. Sigh. One of these days...

Fabulous experiment! Some of those are simply dreamy. I'm afraid I could never go back to film (I NEVER thought I'd say that) as digital is just so cheap and I can try over and over with my aperture etc. So much fun. On planes I use my phone and I don't care about looking crazy - ever! xx

Hi C. :)

Yep, it has been a bit of a challenge going back to film, esp. with an Instamatic camera but I wanted a challenge, lol :)

I would never go back completely, I LOVE my Nikon DSLR D90 too much. :)

I'm sure I would take photos on the plane with my phone if I had a phone that actually takes photos, I must be the only person on the planet with a mobile phone so old, lol :)

Thanks so much for stopping by and Happy Gardening :)

Cheers, T. :)
